Benefits of Adopting and Owning Dogs (Logos, Pathos, Ethos)
Speaker: Candy Ni, a world-renowned veterinarian
Audience: Parents who have stable income and with children
Purpose: To persuade parents to adopt dogs
Subject: Benefits of adopting and owning dogs
Hello and good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Let me introduce myself, my name is Candy Ni, a world-renowned veterinarian. I am here today to tell you the benefits of adopting dogs as pets. First, I have spent years researching dogs and helping abandoned dogs find suitable families, so I have the knowledge and experience to stand here and tell you about why owning a dog is beneficial. Second, being a child that grew up with dogs, I can tell you that dogs can provide us with an irreplaceable emotional support that humans cannot provide.
I encourage all parents with children to adopt dogs. Research and statistics have shown that more children who are raised with dogs are less likely to have allergies. Living with dogs can help children’s immune systems, preventing them from getting pet allergies. Dogs also provide companionship, for both children and parents. When children get older and start leaving their home, retired parents can adopt dogs to prevent loneliness. Dogs encourage children to exercise and be more active. Children in the twenty-first century are constantly using phones, computers, and tablets. Dogs encourage children to go outside and play instead of using electronic devices which can lead to many eye problems. Dogs are also scientifically proven to decrease stress levels. Parents who have high-stress levels from work or other problems can consider adopting dogs to decrease stress.
Another benefit to adopting dogs is the satisfaction you get when you save their lives and provide them with a loving home. Poor, abused and abandoned dogs at kill shelters are to be euthanized if no one is willing to adopt them after a certain time. Fifty-six percent of dogs that enter animal shelters are euthanized. That is more than half. Dogs, like children, also need a caring family and environment. If you do not adopt the dogs, you are indirectly participating in their murder. This is your chance to rescue them. All dogs deserve a home and you can provide them with a home if you adopt them. Some might say taking care of dogs can be troublesome and requires a lot of effort, but the positive aspects of owning dogs outweigh the negative. Dogs need to be cleaned and fed, but the joy they can bring to a family exceeds the extra amount of work.
I like how you presented ethos by using a personal case example. By using a personal case example you're showing readers that you have experience with dogs and is knowledgeable about being around dogs which builds your credibility for establishing ethos.
ReplyDeleteI like your purpose in this post is trying to persuade others on getting a dog. Personally I have always wanted a dog so I enjoyed reading about why its beneficial to own a dog.
I like how well balanced your use of ethos, logos, and pathos was. You established ethos by explaining how you are a veterinarian and how you once owned dogs growing up. Logos was seen throughout your speech by presenting research and statistics to support your argument. By using phrases such as "indirectly participating in their murder" and "chance to rescue them", you are evoking emotion, which is defined as pathos.
ReplyDeleteI like how detailed and organized your writing is. By emphasizing the use of pathos towards the end of your speech, you leave the reader thinking and feeling emotional, which directly leads to action.
I like how you established ethos, logos, and pathos effectively. You established ethos by writing as a world-renowned veterinarian and showing how knowledgeable you are of the benefits of adopting pets. Pathos was established when you stated how people will feel satisfied from adopting a dog and providing it a loving home and logos was established when you included how living with a dog can be helpful to a family.
ReplyDeleteI like how you wrote this speech as a world-renowned veterinarian and established your credibility from the very beginning. I also like how you ended your speech with an emotional statement that will make the audience possibly think of adopt a dog.
In my opinion, we must support the pet adoption for giving and sharing our home and love to the abandoned pets. According to some research spending time with your pets can help you to be healthy and happy in life. Adopt now! Please refer to this link: https://wagspetadoption.org/adopt
